WHAT IS PEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY AND HOW CAN IT HELP MY CHILD?
Occupational therapy helps children develop the skills they need to perform daily tasks and activities. It can support children with sensory processing issues, fine and gross motor skills, social skills, and self-regulation, among other areas.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD MY CHILD ATTEND THERAPY SESSIONS?
Typically, sessions are scheduled once or twice a week, but this may vary based on your child’s specific needs and your family’s schedule. We can adjust the frequency as progress is made.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CHILD NEEDS OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY?
If you notice your child struggling with tasks like dressing, eating, following instructions, socializing with peers, or managing emotions, an evaluation by an occupational therapist can help determine if therapy could be beneficial.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING MY CHILD'S FIRST SESSION?
During the first session, we’ll conduct an assessment to understand your child’s strengths, needs, and goals. We’ll use fun, play-based activities to observe how they respond in different situations and environments.
HOW LONG WILL MY CHILD NEED OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY?
The duration varies depending on each child’s unique needs, progress, and goals. Some children may benefit from a few months of therapy, while others might need ongoing support. We’ll regularly review your child’s progress and discuss recommendations with you.
